The Script's frontman Danny O'Donoghue chooses his Tracks Of My Years this week, starting with songs from Thin Lizzy and U2. Plus, two listeners take on Vernon's mid-morning music quiz Ten to the Top and Vernon delves into the BBC archives for Vernon's Vault. All amongst some great music to keep you smiling through the morning.
Born in 1980 in Dublin, Danny's first success in music was as part of the band Mytown, alongside his best friend Mark Sheehan. They then moved to the USA together to work as songwriters before returning to Ireland and forming The Script in the early 2000s. In 2008 they released their self-titled debut album which topped the UK and Ireland charts, including early hits like Breakeven and The Man Who Can't Be Moved. To date they have released seven albums, with six of them hitting #1 in the UK, selling over 20 million records worldwide. In 2023 Mark Sheehan passed away after a brief illness. Away from the band Danny has also been a coach on two series of The Voice UK. The band's eighth studio album The User's Guide To Being Human will be released next month and they will be playing live at Radio 2 In The Park in Stirling this September.
