The Legend of La Chic
The story of the groundbreaking Nottingham nightclub.
Inside Albion House on Canal Street, today, you'd find corporate offices. In the 1970s and 80s, you'd have instead found a state of the art dancefloor, a restaurant, and even, at once time, a sauna.
La Chic was the first nightclub in the UK licensed specifically for gay men and lesbians and the legacy of both the original club, and its successor, Part 2, still survive in Nottingham today.
In this episode of Notorious Nottinghamshire, historian CJ DeBarra explores the legend of La Chic and speaks to key people from the era.
