The dress code for an opening ceremony is interesting. There are people in posh frocks and suits and even more in replica shirts from their country.
On my way in I passed a lad in a Scotland shirt with a traffic cone hat on his head.
Not so very long ago, it did not look like this Commonwealth Games would happen. But here we are in Glasgow and right up for giving it a good go.
The Opening Ceremony - attended by the King, Queen and new Prime Minister, no less - starts at 20:00 BST sharp and BBC Sport is inside The Hydro ready for the fun to start.
Unlike the Team Scotland boys and girls amassing outside, we're not in full kilt regalia. No bad thing given how warm it's been in the city these past few days...
