A teenager has been arrested after driving at more than 140mph (225kph) while being pursued by police on a Lancashire motorway.

It happened on the M65 near Blackburn on Wednesday, the force said.

Police stopped the driver using a stinger device.

The 19-year-old man, from Rossendale, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a licence, failing to stop and driving without insurance.

Ch Insp John Jennings-Wharton, from Lancashire's Roads Policing unit, said: "Driving like this on the roads of Lancashire is completely unacceptable, will not be tolerated by my officers and we will do everything we can to put dangerous drivers in front of the courts."
