Fire leads to medical centre being evacuated

People had to be evacuated from a town's medical centre after a blaze took hold in part of the building.

Northamptonshire fire crews was called to fight the flames in Brackley at about 23:35 BST on Sunday.

Videos on social media showed flames on the roof and the top corner of the modern building off Wellington Road, which houses a GP surgery and community hospital.

Police said "everyone was evacuated" and the cause was being investigated. A spokesperson at the centre said "it's business as usual" and it was operating as normal on Monday.

"We'd like to thank the emergency services for their swift response and everyone who has sent messages of support and concern," said a statement on Facebook.
