Elderly man dies after fall from electric bike

An elderly man has died after falling off the electric bike he was riding, police have said.

It happened at about 11:55 BST on Friday on Lock Lane in Altofts. The cyclist, in his 80s, died at the scene, according to West Yorkshire Police.

The man had been travelling from Altofts towards Castleford, near the Aire and Calder Navigation, on a green Trek EAPC, a force spokesperson said.

Anyone who saw what happened leading up to the incident, or who saw the incident itself, should get in touch, they added.
