M42 car and motorbike crash causes long delays

Drivers were warned of long delays on the M42 after a crash between Curdworth and Tamworth

There were long delays on the M42 after a crash involving a motorbike and car.

The motorway was closed southbound following the incident between junction nine for Curdworth, Warwickshire, and junction 10 for Tamworth on Friday morning.

National Highways, which reported the closure at 05:40 BST, said Warwickshire Police were carrying out investigations at the scene.

Shortly after 07:00 BST, National Highways confirmed the vehicles had been recovered and the road had reopened.

It said there were residual delays of about 20 minutes and around two miles of congestion in the area.
