Murder investigation launched after man dies in close
Police ScotlandA murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Glasgow.
Police Scotland said they received a report at about 15:00 on Friday that a man had been found with serious injuries in the close of a block of flats on Burgher Street.
Emergency services attended, but the man, who has been named as 44-year-old Paul McMinigal, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Det Ch Insp Stephen McGrath said: "Extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are appealing to anyone with information to come forward."
He added: "I would ask that anyone in the local area think back to whether they saw anything suspicious on Friday afternoon in the area of Burgher Street or Parkhead Cross, or anything in the days leading up to it."
He also urged members of the public to check CCTV and dash-cam footage and said officers would remain in the area while the investigation continued.
He said it was an "extremely difficult time" for McMinigal's family and they "continue to be supported by specially trained officers".
